On any other day, I was excited when we reached the big, gray house that marked the halfway point of our walk; there was always so much attention from everyone standing around staring at the house, but never going inside.

The euphoria of attention from a nice family of three was interrupted when the group standing near my favorite pole shrieked in terror.

A headless person with rickety legs came into view, and Dad decided it was best to start dragging me home instead of get a scratch or two on my back from him, which was rude because he had some nails that looked they could really dig into my fur.
