I walked into the room wearing a quizzical look, immediately feeling like a stranger in a very strange land. The only semblance of life was someone whose head looked like one of my eyes, and my emotions started getting the best of me without Mom around.

“Here I am,” Mom called from behind me as she removed the eyeball mask she’d been hiding under.
