“Wipe your paws.”

I locked eyes with Mom. She knew I knew what she meant; I knew she knew, too.

I’m starting to think that possessing a vast bank of tricks behind my thick, wrinkled forehead is a genetic flaw, causing, at times, more harm than good.

“Wipe you…,” before Mom could say it again, I made a dash toward the dining room.

I love this game, discovering how long it takes either one of my parents to catch me, and the next thing I know, Mom finally won after getting a handle on me, my paws were wiped, and I was placed in timeout.
